Curtis Workman Hoops Classic
How we came about...
A Brief History of the Fontana Curtis Workman Hoops Classic at Southridge Middle SchoolCurtis Workman was a student here at Southridge Middle School from 1997-2000. He was an Honor Roll student and member of the Southridge basketball program among other activities.Curtis was a freshman at Ontario High School in February of 2001 when a car he was riding in was struck by another car speeding and running a red light. Curtis and two of his friends were killed in the accident. The Southridge Basketball Tournament that year was dedicated to the memory of Curtis Workman. By the next year Coach Dave Gabonay had renamed the tournament the Southridge Middle School Curtis Workman Hoops Classic Tournament. All donations go towards supporting the Curtis Workman Memorial Scholarship in the Instrumental Music department at Ontario High School where he was a member of the Ontario Drum Corps, basketball and baseball programs. Posted on our website and Facebook Page, The Curtis Memorial Scholarship is a list of the Ontario High School students who have been recipients of the Curtis Workman Memorial Scholarship. We thank you for your attendance here at the Fontana Curtis Workman Hoops Classic at Southridge Middle School, and for your support of the tournament over the years.
